2007 Holiday Tour of Historic Homes

BIGELOW HOUSE MUSEUM ANNOUNCES ITS ANNUAL HOLIDAY HOME TOUR
TIME: Saturday, December 8, noon to 4 PM
This annual event opens several historic homes in Olympia to ticket purchasers. This year’s homes include:
- Bigelow House, a Carpenter Gothic home built circa 1860Byrd House, a Queen Anne home built in 1891
- Docherty-Johnson House, a Victorian farmhouse built in 1890 (new to the tour)
- McCleary Mansion, an English Renaissance home built 1924-26
- Peters House, a Craftsman Bungalow built in 1909 (new to the tour)
- Warmoth House, a Bungalow built in 1910 (new to the tour)
- White House, an Eclectic Queen Anne and Eastlake style home built in 1893
- Worthington House, a Colonial Revival home built in 1939 and as a special addition,
- The Sand Man, a tugboat built in 1910 (new to the tour)
At least two of this year’s houses are reputed to be haunted.
Ticket purchasers may tour the homes at their own pace; they will receive a tour booklet
containing home descriptions and maps. Houses on the tour represent different
architectural styles, and all have a local or regional historic significance. During the
tour, docents are stationed in each home to answer questions and provide historical
information on each house.
The Holiday Home Tour is a major fund-raiser for the Bigelow House Museum, Olympia’s
oldest surviving residence.
TICKETS: $15 per person. Limited number available. On sale now at Archibald Sisters,
Drees, Popinjay and Thompson’s Furniture. Also available the day of the tour at Bigelow
House Museum (11 AM to 4 PM) and McCleary Mansion (noon to 4 PM).
SPECIAL TREAT: Ticket holders will receive a complimentary dessert sampler and coffee at
Chica’s Cafe, 105 Legion Way SW.
